Every year, the association organizes international summer schools in cooperation with renowned universities. Courses are held in English by distinguished scholars. Summer school programs offered are open to students of all nationalities.

Program A



Politics, Economy, Law and Society in East Asia 


In co-operation with the Johannes Kepler University of Linz (Austria) and the National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan), the association is organizing an international summer school program in Taiwan. The program is available for students around the world.


Time: 17 August - 11 September 2009

Venue: National Sun Ya-tsen University, Taiwan



Program outline (Draft program)


Lectures are held at National Sun Ya-tsen University, the working language is English. The program comprises a three-week course (Monday through Friday, six units a day, totaling 90 units) and a scheduled trip to Central and Northern Taiwan in week 4.

 

Courses offered cover the following subjects:


  • Economic Development in East Asia
  • Commercial Law
  • Political Systems of East Asia
  • Social Changes in East Asia



Requirements: 


  • Applicants should be students at institutions of higher education or employees at international companies.
  • Proficiency in English

 


Accommodation:

Seas Bay Beach Resort (twin room)



Fee: EUR 1,595,-


For participants from Thai universities:
NT$ 68,500 (approx. 61,200 Baht)


The fee includes accommodation w/breakfast, tuition, transport and accommodation in week 4. Fees may vary according to fluctuations in the exchange rate.

Program B




Politics, Economy and Management in Southeast Asia


In co-operation with the Johannes Kepler University of Linz (Austria) and the Thammasat University (Thailand), the association is organising an international summer school in Thailand.

 

Time: 24 August - 16 September 2009

Venue: Thammasat University, Bangkok


Program outline: PDF


Lectures are held at Thammasat University, the working language is English. The program comprises a three-week course (Monday through Friday, six units a day, totaling 90 units) and a scheduled trip to historic sites in week 4.

 

Participants are required to choose and specialize in a subject treated in class by submitting a paper (ca 10 pages) following the program.

Program C




Taiwan Plus


The association for the first time offers a special package consisting of the summer school program in Taiwan (see above) and a four-day field trip to historical sites in Thailand (Program B).

 

Upon arrival on 11 September in Thailand, participants will be accomodated at New Siam Riverside Hotel, Bangkok.

 

Scheduled trip in Thailand:

 

  • 12 September, Chiang Mai: Arrival by plane. Accomodation at Centara Duangtawan Hotel. Lunch. Museum on the Lanna Kingdom of Northern Thailand. Traditional Northern style dinner (optional).
  • 13 September, Chiang Mai: Free. Optional programs: Elefant Farm, Walking Market, Night Bazaar etc.
  • 14 September, Chiang Mai, Sukhothai: Doi Suthep Temple. Lunch. Arrival in Sukhothai.
  • 15 September, Sukhothai: Guided tour through historical city of the ancient Thai kingdom. More than 2000 temples and artefacts. Lunch.
  • 16 September: Flight back to Bangkok.

 


Fee: EUR 1,975,-


The fee includes flight tickets (Taipei- Bangkok; 2 domestic flights in Thailand), accommodation w/breakfast, tuition, transport during week 5. Fees may vary according to fluctuations in the exchange rate.
